I always have.
But I want to make sure we all know that I am not a culinary expert. I simply like to eat. And because I like to eat, I have learned it is useful to know how to cook. Along with the cooking, comes the need to experiment and taste. And generally following that comes excessive bouts on the treadmill to work off the extra calories. A girl only has so many hours in a day, so here is where the healthy alternatives comes into play.
I refuse to give up the foods I love, but I also want to make it as guilt-free as possible to eat them. I’m a big proponent of taking care of my physical health and keeping up with a fitness regimen to keep me productive and happy, but cream cheese icing will always have the #1 spot in my heart. And double chocolate chunk cookies. And chicken Pad Thai. And apple pie. And spicy BBQ ribs. And opera cream truffles. And jalapeno mac & cheese… You get the point. And because I love food, I’ve come to appreciate and adore healthy, unexpected alternatives to what is commonly available to us. There is always a way to enjoy what you love, you just have to figure out how to make it fit your life.
BUT LET ME WARN YOU – not all recipes on here are healthy. Some are unapologetically not. And I don’t apologize for them either. But what I CAN do, is promise that everything on here is good. And it really is.
While I have come to love quite a few savory recipes, most of my recipes are for sweets and baking. I bake when I’m stressed. So I’ve had plenty of opportunities to experiment over the years. I also like to feed people. And handing out cookies is just so much easier than trying to distribute forkfuls of spaghetti.
PS – I just started writing this site… it is an ongoing project. Sorry for any unfinished pages or broken links!
